The technology of manufacturing
The technology of manufacturing steel with a polymer coating was patented by the British company British Steel in the late 60's. Since then, galvanized steel with a polymer coating (polymer, painted galvanized) is used in the construction industry as a material with the best value for money.

Varieties of protective and decorative steel coatings
To date, there are many protective and decorative coatings. Each coating differs in composition, resistance to ultraviolet rays (ability not to burn out in the sun and retain color), resistance to temperature changes and mechanical damage. Consider the characteristics of the most popular steel coatings, such as polyester, matte polyester, Aluzinc, Plastisol and Pural.
Polyester (Polyester, PE, SP)
Decorative protective glossy coating based on polyester. The thickness of the polymer layer is 25 microns. Polyester is one of the inexpensive coatings, while it has good ductility and tolerates temperature changes.
Products made of galvanized steel with polyester coating - have corrosion resistance and multi-purpose application. Resistance to mechanical damage is mediocre and low resistance to ultraviolet radiation.
Polyester owes its popularity to a huge selection of colors, glossy finish and aesthetics, as well as a reasonable price.
Matte polyester (Polyester matt, MatPE, PEMA)
Protective and decorative matte coating based on polyester resin. Quite plastic, has high resistance to chemical influences and excellent mechanical properties, which is achieved due to the thickness of the coating - 35 microns. Has good resistance to weather conditions and corrosion resistance.
Matte polyester has an attractive texture. Due to the matte, not glossy surface, as in traditional polyester, imitation of natural materials is achieved. When using a metal with a matte coating as a roofing material does not give glare.
Aluzinc (Alumozinc, Aluzinc)
The coating consists of 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc and 1.6% silicon. The thickness of this coating is - 25 microns. It has good corrosion resistance, as well as resistance to UV radiation. Thanks to a metal covering, the Alumotsink covering possesses natural silver shine.
Plastisol (PVC)
Polymer consisting of polyvinyl chloride and plasticizers. The galvanized steel roofing with plastisol layer of 100 and 200 microns is covered. Due to its large thickness, this coating is the most resistant to mechanical damage, has high corrosion resistance, which provides additional protection in a polluted environment, but it has a relatively low color fastness in conditions of excessive ultraviolet radiation, ie quickly fades in the sun in the southern regions. The coating has an embossed surface - embossing that mimics leather or a dash notch that does not give sun glare.
PVDF
Coating consisting of polyvinyl fluoride (80%) and acrylic (20%). The thickness of the PVDF coating is 27 μm, and it has a strong hardness with excellent ductility. The most resistant polymer coating of steel to any non-mechanical environmental influences, does not fade over time and provides increased resistance to corrosion of water and snow, as well as acids and alkalis. Thus, products with PVDF coating are used, especially where long-term preservation of color, gloss and cleanliness of the surface is required.
Like polyester coating, PVDF has a smooth glossy surface with gloss. To make it even more attractive, special varnishes are often used, which make it possible to convey a metallic sheen or other interesting effects.
Pural (Pural, PU) and opaque pural (PUMA)
Decorative and protective polymer coating based on polyurethane with the addition of polyamide. Pural coating is applied to galvanized steel in a layer of 50 microns. This coating has increased resistance to chemical, mechanical and natural influences. This coating is resistant to color to ultraviolet radiation and high strength, and has high anti-corrosion properties and good resistance to mechanical damage. Matte Pural has a more spectacular appearance.
The trademark Pural ("pural") is a registered trademark of Ruukki (Finland).
